After-School Program Site Coordinator (Year-Round)

POSITION SUMMARY

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Year-Round After School Site Coordinator will manage the day-to-day operation of the Kids’ Time and Adventure Camp programs in a leadership capacity, adhering to all the policies and procedures as outlined in the department handbook. This position delivers excellent service to all families and program participants. The Site Coordinator will maintain excellent working relationships with adults and children. The staff must be able to lead a group of participants through the programming of each day. The Site Coordinator will lead and foster a safe and nurturing environment for all program participants. Regardless of primary assignment, this position may be required to travel between program sites as needed.

The YMCA of Rock River Valley has a responsibility to provide safe and secure programs and services for our community. The YMCA is a leader in child abuse prevention to support the safety of children in our care.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  1. Coordinates the day-to-day operations of all Kids’ Time and Adventure Camp programs.
  2. Prepares student rosters and assigns students to groups.
  3. Coordinates the food programs for site or group. Follows all distribution policies and guidelines issued by the Northern Illinois Food Bank.
  4. Maintains weekly and monthly paperwork. Turns in all paperwork within the timeframe requested.
  5. Maintains student behavioral responses and plans in the after-school program while following the expectations in accordance with the department’s Standard Operating Procedures and handbook.
  6. Coordinates and implements the daily program schedule. Assigns tasks and responsibilities to the site team as needed.
  7. Works collaboratively with the community partners to schedule and integrate activities. Examples include Crossroads, Focus One, the Red Cross and PTO.
  8. Works collaboratively with YMCA association and leadership.
  9. Assists with and helps coordinates parent-engagement programs.
  10. Models the YMCA core values: Caring, Honesty, Respect, Responsibility and Faith.
  11. Practices and models good listening skills.
  12. Takes ownership of any issues that arise and resolves them to the best of your ability and in a professional manner.
  13. Leads staff to develop a cohesive team.
  14. Communicates all concerns and needs to Leadership in a timely manner.
  15. Provides activity and event information for marketing purposes.
  16. Attends bi-weekly Site Coordinator and monthly all-staff meetings.
  17. Participates in Y Leadership assignments and training as available.
  18. Ensures a strong focus on character development and diversity, equity and inclusion throughout programming.
  19. Reports damaged equipment or safety hazards promptly.
  20. Performs any other functions necessary for the smooth and efficient operation of the YMCA of Rock River Valley.

Part-Time, Non-Exempt
Monday-Friday
1:45-5:45 pm (School Year); Hours may vary (Summer and School's Out Days)
Out-of-School Days as Scheduled by School District
$15.75 per hour

Regardless of primary assignment, this position may be required to travel between program sites as needed.
