The Little Campers/Learners Instructor supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. This position develops, organizes, and implements high-quality early childhood programs that foster each child’s physical, intellectual, emotional, and social growth. The Instructor provides age-appropriate guidance and delivers engaging curriculum that promotes achievement, belonging, and strong relationships among children and families.
EXPECTATIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist with leading day-to-day implementation of the program for assigned location(s) (i.e. Little Learners, Little Campers). Ensures high-quality, developmental programs and establishes new interactive program activities.
- Attends and participates in staff meetings and training opportunities as they occur on at least a quarterly basis.
- Works hands-on inside the program equipping and leading the children.
- Helps retain enrolled students. Creates an attentive, nurturing environment for participants in which they can thrive.
- May assist in the marketing and distribution of program information.
- Helps operate programs within a predetermined budget.
- Assures compliance with state and local regulations as they relate to program areas. Ensures that YMCA program standards are met and safety procedures followed.
- Provides for upkeep of assigned program facilities, supplies and equipment and ensures the physical environment is supportive for youth development.
- Develops and maintains effective relationships with parents.
- Maintains proper program records.
- Helps organize and deliver special events for parents and children.
- Provides an environment in which children can feel comfortable, relaxed, happy and involved in play,
- recreation and other activities.
- Ensures a strong focus on character development and diversity, equity and inclusion throughout programming.
- Reports damaged equipment or safety hazards promptly.
- Performs any other functions necessary for the smooth and efficient operation of the YMCA of Rock River Valley.

Part-Time, Non-Exempt
Monday, Wednesday, Friday 7:45 - 11:15 am
$15.00 per hour
QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum age of 16 years old.
- Ability to plan, organize and implement age-appropriate/developmentally appropriate program activities independently without the need of direct supervision.
- Ability to work both independently and in a collaborative team dynamic.
- Ability to be flexible and problem solve quickly and effectively.
- Current Praesidium Academy training
- CPR, AED and First Aid Certifications required within 90 days
