Walking School Bus Instructor

Location: Loves Park, IL

SUMMARY

The Walking School Bus Instructor will be responsible for walking students to school safely on a daily basis. Delivers excellent service to all families and Walking School Bus participants. Maintaines excellent working relationsihps with both adults and children. Responds to family and participant needs and safety.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Track daily attendance and provide the Program Director regular updates
  2. Provide careful, attentive supervision and ensure that students arrive to school in the safest manner possible, adhering to all Y safety standards
  3. Routinely evaluate quality and best practices to ensure high success of program
  4. Work collaboratively with community partners to schedule and integrate all activities
  5. Practice good listening skills, Take ownership of any problems that arise and resolve them to the best of your ability in a professional manner
  6. Work together with staff and volunteers as a cohesive and effective team

Qualifications

  • HS diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination fo education and experience
  • Certifications and training required upon hire: CPR, First Aid & AED, Child abuse prevention, Bloodborne pathogens and New Employee Orientation
  • Excellent interpersonal and problem solving skills
  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community

Physical Demands

  • Ability to walk for long periods of time in various weather conditions.
  • Visual and auditory ability to identify and respond to environmental and other hazards 

SCHEDULE

  • Part Time Hourly
  • M-F; 6:30 AM-7:30 AM 

COMPENSATION

  • $12.00/hour
  • Complimentary Y Membership
